agreed. if you re a parent, and your kid did something stupid, then you re as guilty as the child. if a child shop lifts from the store they usually hold you accountable. for a crime much worse (killing people) they definitely need to be held accountable.

As one who lives just over one hour south of Oxford, and one who'd listened to reports daily, the trials of both parents in the last few months, made me become unpleasantly ponderous while driving to and fro , place to place. From the mother emotionally upset down to the father going into denial, down to the teen shooter going into a legal stalemate with the Courts before actually pleading guilty, I have heard it too well.

I can't comprehend why these parents did not see or notice any tell-tale signs that their own son was mentally unstable. I try to ponder why they went so far in handing this kid a deadly weapon. I'm trying to figure out why teachers and school officials, whom had tried their best in warning these same adults about their son's erratic behavior, went ignored. This baffles me quite a bit.

This is a problem that has gone on forever since Columbine, since Sandy Hook and other related events involving teens and guns.

The problem is the groups of NAIVE American parent(s) of children. When two people who don't understand that being a parent takes a lot of interactive involvement, work and care to raise a child, the grand notion of Murphy's Law will prevail.

As one who is voluntarily childless, by choice that is, believes that the risk of giving birth to new human beings doesn't always bring a positive outcome or result; this is a perfect example.
