Thanks for the Reminder
I'm 65. A runner. Run daily. Anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes a day. You got me thinking several weeks ago. For me sugar is the worst. I read sugar is toxic. It's poison to our system. And like salt, it's in everything. My goal is to lose more pounds. When you eliminate that salt and sugar, it allows your body to process food naturally. The brain isn't having to compete with what's toxic and what's real. Real tells me it's satisfied and not carving more. Toxic tells my brain, keep eating because your system is out of control. My goal is to live to 100 and still be teaching either online or face-to-face. After listening to you and coming across this guy Dr. Robert Lustig, sugar wants to kill us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnnZp1Z9C1I Thanks Tom for your life & death message.
We are on the same wavelength for sure!
Thanks for your input and good luck with your program.

Salt, sugar and old bad habits
Dear Tom,
I was living abroad in the Asian region for the last 7 years and a I decided a couple ago cutting on salt, sugar and high processed foods and it was one of the best decisions I made in my life, almost every aspect of my life went better and as a bonus I learnt how to eat less and better following your advice, not difficult to me cause I love cooking.
I am back to Brazil now living close to my parents, locked here due to the pandemic, and I noticed my parents, brother and sister are all taking drugs for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high blood sugar. Did my best to convince them to change their habits just a little and I failed miserably. When you tell them to avoid, replace or limit some s... they reply they take the drugs and it is all ok.
I can't understand why people get so lazy and resilient to make changes will help them, just some little "sacrifices" to collect big benefits.
Thank you very much for the priceless advice, wonderful life lessons and amazing entertainment.
Hope the best to you and wish you're soon sipping your wine or/and a good craft beer.
Carlos
I couldn't agree with you more!
Thanks so much, Carlos.

Asian food
Just one more thing I forgot.
I love Asian food and it is generally healthy but they love add monosodium glutamate, a flavor enhancer based on sodium! This thing is terrible.
The same enhancer is used in soy and other sauces, canned food and other, check the package.
When I eat out I check the kitchen if they have the bag or the recipients for the common brands as Ajinomoto or similar and don't eat if I find it.
Even better: Cook asian food myself ;-)
Asian food is LOADED with sodium!
Thanks for that reminder!

Shocking how you didn't know
Shocking how you didn't know how bad a lot of these things are when you're pretty smart on other things.
It's only human...
...to sometimes know you have to do or not do certain things, but you put them off instead. At least I'm honest about it.

Keto works for me
I have been eating a strict ketogenic diet for over 3 years now and it has served me well. I cut out all the sugar years ago and I have seen a huge improvement since I did. I do not drink alcohol. I do not do drugs. I only drink high quality spring water. I try and keep my stress levels as low as possible. I have no wife and no kids so this helps with managing stress. I try and get 8 hours of sleep every night. I also like to do body weight calisthenics ie pull ups, push ups, dips etc. :) I am happy to see Dad making all these great healthy changes in his life and I would advise you all to do the same. :)
Thanks so much, but...
...bacon is LOADED with sodium and most people salt their steaks liberally. Hope you DON'T!
Tom
salt is bad
there s also lot of restaurants (if not all) uses MSG with salt to make things more flavorful and that shit is not good for anybody.
Exactly right...
...thanks for the reminder!

Same Journey
Great show, Professor! These life-improvement shows are my favorite! I have been on the same journey as you -- reducing my bp by getting healthy. With many of the same lifestyle changes as you, I too have achieved normal bp. Since you started your sodium purge, I've been wondering "What's Tom gonna do about Montreal Steak Seasoning? I gave it up. Can he?" Thanks for answering that question. Moreover, thank you for letting your show mature with your audience. I'll wager that the majority of us paying subscribers think more about health than $40 dates. XD

Thanks Tom
I just subscribed to Premium Tom. I’ve been thinking about my health lately. I’ve been very unhealthy and been stuck. I just so happen to start this segment and holy shit I needed to hear this. Tom was the remedy I needed to get out this funk. I am glad I signed up worth every penny.
Purchased the book, thanks Senor Tomas
This episode made me rethink the route I took 10 years ago. in 2010 I was diagnosed with high BP. I am still on a daily medication but lately been rethinking it.
There have been times when I run out and the Dr refuses to refill until I visit him. Those few days in between, my body has gone haywire. I've become dependent on the meds.
No more...thanks for the 'eye opener' Tom.
THANKS FOR THE GIFT OF TIME!
What is more valuable than more time ( and good health) on earth?
